Platted in 1865, Incorporated in 1988
McCordsville was laid out and platted in 1865, named for the McCord family, within Vernon Township, Hancock County — a township organized back in 1836. But the town itself didn't incorporate until 1988, and its population has grown roughly 55% since the 2020 census alone, now estimated near 13,800 and still climbing at about 5.5% a year.
Plumbing That Tracks the Incorporation Date, Not the Plat
We see mostly newer PEX and copper systems in McCordsville, installed as part of the growth wave that followed its 1988 incorporation. The century-plus gap between the original 1865 plat and today's construction means the plumbing story here follows the recent date, not the old one.
