Plumber planning in Lawrence

A fort that anchored a century of construction, and pipe generations to match.

A Fort That Shaped a Century of Construction

Lawrence started as a planned community in 1849 under the name Lanesville, renamed Lawrence in 1866. Its bigger transformation came in 1904, when the federal government purchased roughly 2,000 acres to establish Fort Benjamin Harrison, an Army post that anchored the local economy for decades, especially after the U.S. Army Finance Center opened there in 1953. Housing built across that long span, before roughly 70% of the fort became Fort Harrison State Park after closure, varies genuinely in age.

Every Job Gets Its Own Era Read

We don't assume a single pipe-material standard in Lawrence — a home built during the fort's early-1900s growth years needs a different assumption than one built during the 1950s finance-center expansion, or one built after the base's later closure.
