A Reservoir, Not a Town — and Water Infrastructure to Match
Geist isn't an incorporated town; it's the community that grew up around Geist Reservoir, an artificial lake created by damming Fall Creek between 1941 and 1943 and named for Clarence H. Geist, president of the Indianapolis Water Company. The dam flooded roughly 535 acres and 45 homesteads, including the small village of Germantown, which still lies beneath the reservoir. Nearly all of the shoreline's homes were built from the 1980s forward.
Larger Homes, More Complex Fixture Counts
Our Geist calls tend to involve larger custom homes with more bathrooms, more fixtures, and sometimes irrigation or dock-adjacent plumbing tied to the shoreline — different in scale, though not really in age, from a typical Fishers subdivision job.
